As promised, here is my (anti)-political blog, CHAOS Party Headquarters. Here I plan to opine and engage in debate about our joke of a system. My plan is to bring attention to and discuss news items and other jumping-off points that I think illustrate how outdated and unweildy and farcical it is.
I encourage and welcome debate and all viewpoints, as long as the discussion is respectful (at least for the most part; humorous jabs are welcome, as long as we all abide by a dish-it-out-AND-take-it policy). If I have to monitor comments, I will, but for now they remain open. Who am I kidding? I will be happy if two people even read this blog, to say nothing of commenting on it.

1. Voting:
When voting, always vote for a third party candidate, no matter how nutty the choices are. Remember, the mainstream choices are just as nutty, but because they have so much money and media behind them, it seems like they aren't.
Someday, when a third party candidate is actually viable in an election (thanks to efforts of people like you), you will have to be more careful about which 3rd party candidate you vote for (although hopefully by then the antiquated assumption that there are only two parties, thus making the term "3rd party candidate" necessary, will have vanished from our union).
If there is no third party candidate, write in someone. If no write-ins are available, either do not vote, or vote against the incumbent.
A word on not voting: in a system that makes sense, not voting is irresponsible. When a person is presented with viable, clearly discernable choices, he/she must choose the best one and do his/her part to advance the system. However, in a system which no longer works and which consistently presents the voter with equally undesirable (and essentially indiscernable) choices, refusing to participate in the system is one way to show displeasure and disapproval, and may indeed serve to undermine that system and help bring about change.
2. Official Political Affiliation:
When you register, register as an independent. If you are bothered by the spurious claim (usually espoused by people who are inexplicably loyal to one party) that Independents are wishy-washy fence-sitters, register for a third party that seems to meet most of your preferences. But remember, the CHAOS Party is about throwing the entire system into chaos so it has to rebuild, so affliliating with an established party may be only robbing Peter to pay Paul. Probably the wrong analogy, but you get it.
3. General Attitude About Politics:
No more naive claims that party A is inherently better/more caring/more fiscally responsible than party B. It's nonsense. The system has gotten so big and lumbering that both parties are fat rolls on the same lolling beast. They both play to big money interests, and they both do whatever is politically expedient to keep them in power for the next cycle. I haven't even noticed them being very secretive about it. If they are not in power, they are scheming to get in power. If they are in power, they are scheming to stay in. No more embarrassingly simplistic "Had Enough? Vote Party A!" bumper stickers. No more buying into the myth that THIS administration, things will be different.
This really will require a change in thinking for some people. Perhaps there once was a party difference, but now it's like having to decide between shopping at Target and Wal-Mart: huge corporations with very limited and specific goals which don't involve you, only your money, and the power it guarantees. Even the supposed differences between the two parties only serve as (possible) exceptions which prove the point, and are usually only clearly articulated during an election cycle.
